Ogden 4th Ward Exterior
I have changed the previous entries of this building listed under the Buenaventura Ward to the Ogden 4th Ward. The 4th Ward is the historical and original name of both the building and the ward, while Buenaventura is the current name. So here is an exterior image of this beautiful and striking building. The area above the entry is a large room now called the Tower room, but was originally called the Prayer room. I’ll post additional pictures of this unique room shortly.

I know this is how the church currently appears, but I would like to know it’s history and anecdotes while being first built. Thanks for any information you may have or be able to provide.

Irene, you could email me if you want to know more. I have attended church in this building for 23 years, and have a copy of the ward history, including the story of the building of this structure. There are some great stories. I didn’t know about the Deaf Branch meeting in the gymnasium, though, until I read about it on this blog. Just put “Ogden 4th Ward History” in the subject line. wnriches@yahoo.com
PS–My husband will probably answer; he knows more.

Both the Ogden 4th and Buenaventura (Spanish-speaking) wards meet here. The 4th ward has always met here, except during the remodeling. For a period of about 10-15 years, it was known as the Pioneer Ward, but the historical name was restored shortly after the re-dedication of the building.

We would love to post some or your photos on our ward Facebook page. Could we please have you permission? Thanks for the great write-up. It was especially nice to read during the remodel.
