Mesa 2nd Ward Chapel Interior

Somehow I neglected to post interior images of this chapel. Similar to the Logan 1st Ward, this chapel has a center aisle. But also notice that the pulpit is off-center and to the right side of the rostrum.

These appear to be original pews in the chapel. Looking at the base of the pew shows that the floor slopes down to the front of the chapel. Also, I have been neglecting to list the architects on this building, which I have done here and added to the previous posts.

Logan 1st Ward Chapel Balcony

The doors on both sides of the chapel lead directly to classrooms, which is quite a nice feature. The three sets of double entry doors lead directly to a lobby that in turn leads to the columned entry off the street – all set on a strict classically-influenced axis. Here is an exterior picture showing the entry. At both sides of the lobby are stairs leading up to the balcony. And at the two upper level corners are classrooms. The windows of these rooms can be seen in the exterior photo linked above.

Somehow I incorrectly labeled the window detail post last week. It’s not the 4th Ward as I originally labeled it, but is from this building, the 1st ward.

Preston 1st Ward Exterior

A beautiful and very unique mid-century meetinghouse. Unfortunately the chapel interior has been updated and does not reflect the styling of the exterior anymore.

All of the detailing on this building is consistent with the overall form of the building. Including these ‘golden toaster’ door handles that I am in love with. Good design will show themes carried through no matter the scale.

Utah State Meetinghouse Chapel Interior

There are actually two chapels in this building that are similar but have minor differences. This is the West chapel, which appears to be the primary chapel since it is slightly longer and has a decorative grill at the front above the pulpit. The other chapel is called the East chapel and is in line with the other chapel. In other words, the two Chapels are connected but do not open up to each other and the Cultural Hall is not connected to either Chapel.

Liberty Ward Exterior

One of my favorites. But it’s another building I don’t have any info on yet. This one is definitely mid-century, though.

Ovid Ward Exterior

I believe this used to be the ward meetinghouse for this small town. I hope to get confirmation and info from the Church History Library, but any dates/etc would be greatly appreciated. The building is currently privately owned.

Yale Ward Stained Glass

Another picture looking through the lobby windows to the stained glass located at the back center of the rostrum. When I get inside the chapel, I’ll post a higher res image.

The chapel was locked, so this picture was taken through the lobby windows seen in the previous picture.
