    It needs art. I can appreciate an elegantly austere building as well as anyone, I think, but this just cries out for a few pieces of highly stylized statuary or an abstract painting or SOMETHING besides white walls, white rocks, white curtains, white light fixtures and dark wooden furniture.

    I mean, the exterior is dramatic and funky in a nice understated way–it has enough going on to be interesting but not busy. Seems to me the interior should match the exterior, right?

    And it also seems that since the interior is where “worship” (such as it is in LDS services) takes place, there should be something visual to help you focus your attention on why you’re there. I’ve done the zen thing of staring at a blank wall as a tool for mediation and spiritual clarity, but’ it’s tough, frankly, and not for novices or the faint of heart. Can’t the church help its congregants out a bit on the reverence front, with just a little art to remind them why they’re there?
